Batam Trip 2011 (Part 1)

After the end of my polytechnic life, a group of friends and i headed to the nearby Indonesian island of Batam. It was time to let loose, forget about the buzz that's happening in Singapore and enjoy the serenity.

It was an enjoyable trip as a whole! We've got the chance to lit our own fireworks, an unforgettable experience. As well as our usual heart to heart talks that never fails to bring us closer together.

Day #1
Departure for Batam, Water Sports, Swimming, Delima Seafood

We departed early in the morning and everyone was tired due to last minute packing the day before.

Jx, yx and I. I had an eye infection that morning and had a bloodshot left eye. :(
Photobucket

We stayed at KTM Resort for 3 Days 2 Nights.
Thanks to Mr Lim's contact, we were given a family terrace house which was long and spacious!

The view from our Balcony.

Singapore could be seen at the far end of the horizon.

After freshening up, we had a simple lunch at the resort before heading out for Water sports!! (A smiley for an unprepared me)

Getting ready for kayaking!

Hiding our feet from the blazing hot floor.

We crashed into some stilts and my paddle broke into two.
Photobucket

That was how fierce we were at kayaking.
Thanks to National team aka Xt and Hy for their rescue operation. haha

The weather took a turn for the worst and all water activities had to be suspended due to the lightning. :(

We headed to a nearby resort, Harris to hide from the rain.
Photobucket

When the rain subsided, we chilled at the pool area and act as though we were the resort guest.
Photobucket

We even swam the whole evening. A photo in the pool with jx and hy.

Random self-shots.

After swimming the whole evening, we headed to a Dalima Seafood Restaurant!
We gave the other touristy seafood restaurants a miss as it's overated.

The food at Delima was awesome and CHEAP!
We ate like there's no tomorrow. It was simply delicious.
Photobucket

The whole dinner just costs about 96.5k rupiah.
It was simply worth the money, the food was fresh, fire-hot and most importantly YUMMY.
We had 2 rounds of food, just to express how much we love their food.

After dinner, we headed back to the resort for the night.
My favorite spot of the room, the veranda.
Looking out into the sea, you'll see the night skyline of Singapore.
Photobucket

Marina Bay Sands, Singapore Flyer could be seen.

Day #2
Shopping, A&W Fast food, Massage, Windsor Food Court, Fireworks

The day began with us heading to Nagoya Hill, a shopping area in Batam.
I personally feel that there's nothing much to buy over there as the fashion isn't suitable.
Bangkok wins hands down in terms of "fashionable-cheap-shopping".

Photobucket

While shopping we also purchased fireworks from one of the "shops" which costs us a total of 100+SGD.

Photobucket

We had lunch at the much missed A&W fast food joint at Nagoya Hill!
The curley fries and float were good but the burger and chicken wasn't that appealing.
In all, A&W was a disappointment. :(
Photobucket

After a whole day of shopping and walking, we decided to reward ourselves with a full body massage at Eska, located just outside Nagoya Hill Mall.
Photobucket

The massage was awkward (Yeah, it was my first) and all but it was really good as it really helps soothe our aching muscles.
If i'm not wrong, the massage costs 12SGD per person for an hour long massage.

Rejuvenated us, after the massage!
Photobucket

After the massage, we headed to Windsor Food Court for dinner.
The place is similar to that of Singapore's Newton Food Centre, just that there is a getai singer entertaining the crowd.
Photobucket

We had a simple dinner as we broke our budget previously on seafood!

After dinner, we headed back to the hotel for night activities!
The big night, where we lit our very own fireworks into the skies above.

A group photo of us all!
Photobucket

The launcher and everything explosive.
Photobucket

Setting up for the big thing.
Photobucket

The firework explodes with a big Bang, lighting up the skies with colour.
Photobucket

It was magnificent. The thrill of setting off your own fireworks was extremely fun!
After the fireworks display, we were 100$+ poorer as our money has just gone up into flames. But well, it was definitely WORTH it, the experience was invaluable.

Day #3
Cam-whoring, Departure to Singapore

Time flew and it was our final day in Batam. We spent our time relaxing at the resort as well as taking photos.

Fishing's a favourite activity at the hotel.
Photobucket

Us at the Jetty.

The wind was just too strong.

The guys.

The girls.

A final group photo.
Photobucket

As usual, our jump shots.
Photobucket

And a formal one with the signage.
Photobucket

With the ever cliche Polaroid shot.
Photobucket

It was an awesome trip, a first for us to travel together.
Whatever happens, I hope the trip have bonded us closer together.

Looking forward to more of such trips in the near future.. :)
